SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's ice hockey team will open the 2010-11 season with a weekend series against Atlantic Hockey newcomer Robert Morris University October 9-10 at the Olympia Ice Center, it was announced by head coach Gary Wright, who is entering his 27th season behind the bench at AIC.

HAVERHILL, Mass. – Senior forward Dean Yakura (West Vancouver, B.C.) was named the Atlantic Hockey Top Scholar Athlete for the second straight year and was one of 24 American International College student-athletes to be named to the AHA all-Academic Team, setting a new league record for the most individuals to make the all-Academic Team from one institution.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The American International College men’s ice hockey team’s season came to an end Friday night after losing 4-2 to Holy Cross in the opening round of the AHA Championship Tournament. The Yellow Jackets end the season 5-24-4 overall and 5-20-4 in the conference, while the win improves the Crusaders to 12-17-6 on the season and to 11-13-5 in the AHA. Holy Cross advances to play Sacred Heart in the second round.

The Yellow Jackets went 0-1-1 in their season finale home-and-home with Army, losing the first game 8-6 and then skating to a 2-2 tie in overtime on Saturday. AIC finishes the regular season 5-23-4 overall and 5-19-4 in the conference.
