Darryl Konicki assumed the role of Sports Information Director
at American International College on October 1, 2007. Konicki
oversees all of the media relations and publicity efforts for the
Yellow Jackets' 21 Division II varsity programs and their Division
I men’s ice hockey program.
Konicki arrived at AIC after spending two years as the Assistant
Director of Sports Information at Ithaca College, where he served
as the primary contact for 16 of the Bombers 25 varsity teams.
Konicki hosted four NCAA Division III Regional Championships and
was an official scorer for the 2005-06 NCAA Division III
men’s basketball and 2007 Division III men’s lacrosse
tournaments.
Konicki was the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at
the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Division III) during the 2004-05
season. He assisted in all facets of the promotional efforts for
the Mariners 23 varsity programs, which included the design and
layout of all team brochures and media guides.
Konicki also completed a post-graduate internship at Sacred Heart
University during the 2003-04 season. He assisted in the
promotional efforts of the Pioneers 32 varsity programs and was the
primary contact for the men’s ice hockey team. Konicki also
worked at the 2003-04 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball
First/Second Rounds in Bridgeport, Conn.
Konicki also interned and later served as Interim-Manager of Media
Relations for the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey
League, during the 2002-03 campaign, which included two rounds of
the Calder Cup playoffs.
A native of Springfield, Mass., Konicki graduated from Western New
England College in 2003 with a B.S.B.A. in Sport Management
(AACSB). He spent two and a half years as a student assistant in
the athletic communications office and was a writer and editor for
the campus newspaper, The Westerner. He was also a statistician at
the 2001-02 Basketball Hall of Fame’s Hoophall Classic, a
high school tournament featuring many of the top-ranked teams in
the nation, and for the Springfield Spirit of the National
Women’s Basketball League (2002-03).
Konicki is an active member of the College Sports Information
Directors Association of America (CoSIDA) and the Eastern College
Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association
(ECAC-SIDA). He serves on CoSIDA’s committee on committees
and on ECAC-SIDA’s website committee.
Konicki currently resides in Agawam, Mass.
