April Pollock is entering her first season as the head women's lacrosse coach at American International College. She is the first full-time head women's lacrosse in AIC history.
Pollock arrives at AIC after serving as the assistant coach at Springfield College in 2007, where she helped lead the Pride to a 10-8 record and a berth in the semifinals of the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. Pollock coached the goalies and defensive players for SC and oversaw the programs recruiting and fundraising efforts. She also organized and coached at the team's Peak Performance Lacrosse Camp.
Before her arrival at Springfield, Pollock was the assistant coach at Smith College from 2003-06. She coached the goalies and attack players and assisted in all other aspects of the Pioneers' program. Pollock was also the director of youth sports at the Hampshire Regional YMCA in Northampton from 2003-06, where she developed physical education classes at two local private schools and developed new youth sports programs at the YMCA.
Pollock was a four-year starter in goal at the University of Connecticut, where she still holds the Huskies' records for career goals against average (8.97), career save percentage (.558), career wins (26), saves in a season (195) and saves in a single game (20). She was named the team's Defensive MVP in 2000 and 2003 and was selected to play in the Division I North-South Senior All-Star game in 2003.
Pollock graduated from Connecticut in 2003 with bachelor degrees
in political science and women's studies. She will complete her
master's degree in physical education at Springfield in May 2008
with a concentration in advanced-level coaching.
