MARIO ELIE
Mario Elie, played from 1981-85 and his teams went a combined 91-32 and captured a pair of Northeast-8 (now Northeast-10) championships and three bids to the NCAA Tournament, culminating in a 29-4 mark and a trip to the Elite Eight in 1984-85. The only three-time Player of the Year in Northeast-10 history and Rookie of the Year in 1981-82, Elie ranks second in AIC history in scoring (2,124) and steals (190), sixth in rebounding (1,001) and eighth in assists (332).
Elie went on to an 11-year NBA career with six
different teams, most notably the Houston Rockets and San Antonio
Spurs. He captured back-to-back NBA championships with
Houston in 1994 and 1995, then captured his third title in 1999
when the Spurs downed the New York Knicks in six games.
Elie’s teams made the playoffs in all 11 seasons. After
wrapping up his playing career with Phoenix in 2000-01, Elie served
as an assistant coach with San Antonio last season and is on the
Golden State Warriors staff this season.
