BILL JENKINS
Bill Jenkins was a standout on the gridiron for AIC. Playing at end, Jenkins was an All New-England and All-America selection in 1941. He also played four years of basketball for the Aces and played baseball for one season and rowed crew for two years. Following graduation Jenkins served in the Army in World War II and then played professional football following the service until an injury cut his career short.
Later, Jenkins would make his mark in coaching,
first at Ludlow High School before moving to Westfield High School,
where he served as athletic director and assistant principal.
He coached football, baseball, basketball and golf. A solid
golfer, he once finished second in New England in a southpaw golf
tournament and later returned to AIC to coach the golf team for
several seasons. Jenkins also coached freshman football for
the Yellow Jackets in 1979 and 1980.
