Complete Northeast-10 Release
South Easton, Mass. – Senior wide receiver
Travis Poole (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the American International College football team was named the Northeast-10 Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Yellow Jackets to a 45-19 win at C.W. Post to open the 2008 campaign Saturday. Junior wide receiver
Kertis Hussey (Paterson, N.J.) and sophomore quarterback
Rob Parent (West Warwick, R.I.) were named to the conference’s weekly honor roll.
Poole caught 10 passes for a school-record 253 yards and three touchdowns against the Pioneers. He had scoring catches for 73, 14 and 27 yards, respectively. Hussey caught seven passes for 90 yards and also had three touchdown receptions. His scoring plays went for 24, 14 and 24 yards, respectively.
Parent tied the school record for passing touchdowns in a game with six while completing 18-of-30 passes for 344 yards against C.W. Post. The six passing touchdowns were also tied the program’s single-game team record for passing TDs in a single game, which was set in AIC’s 44-36 overtime win at Bryant back on Nov. 4, 2000 when current quarterbacks coach Tom Guy completed 19-of-39 passes for 272 yards and school-record six scores.
The Yellow Jackets return to action September 12 when they travel to Northeast-10 preseason favorite Southern Connecticut for a 7 p.m. contest.
