Travis Poole (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the American International College football team was named the Division II/III Boston Globe Gold Helmet Award winner after catching 10 passes for a school record 253 yards and three touchdowns in the Yellow Jackets season-opening victory over C.W. Post this past Saturday.
Two Gold Helmets, one for a Division I player and one for a Division II or III player, are given out each week of the football season to the top player in each category for that week at the New England Football Writer Association Luncheon. The luncheons are held at Harvard’s Hall of History.
The Yellow Jackets return to action September 12 when they travel to Northeast-10 preseason favorite Southern Connecticut. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
