Ellington, Conn. - The American International College men's golf team is ranked third of 13 teams after the first round of the Connecticut Cup, hosted by the University of Connecticut at the par-72 Ellington Ridge Country Club. The Yellow Jackets are the only non-Division I program in the tournament.
AIC finished with a team score of 296, trailing only Arkansas-Little Rock (287) and Connecticut's "A" team (293).
Junior
Garrett Beyor (Monson, Mass.) is tied for third overall with a one-under par 71. Junior
Kent Graham (Kamuela, Hawaii) and
Greg Strattner (Westfield, Mass.) and freshman
Nate Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.) are tied for fifth, each shooting a three-over par 75.
Freshman
Colin Dansereau (Ludlow, Mass.) finished with an 87 after the first 18 holes. Classmate
Anthony Roberts (Ludlow, Mass.) shot an 83 competing as an individual.
Round two of the Connecticut Cup is currently under way. The third and final round will is set for Tuesday.
