Box Score
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College women’s soccer team lost Wednesday night 2-0 after playing well against undefeated No. 2 Saint Rose. With the loss the Yellow Jacket fall to 6-8-1 this season and are 3-8-1 in the Northeast-10, while the win improves the Golden Knights to 14-0-0 and to 11-0-0 in the conference.
Junior Amanda Deck (Cicero, N.Y.) gave Saint Rose an early 1-0 lead when she scored off of a penalty kick just over two-minutes into the first half. The Golden Knights took only a 1-0 lead into the first half because of well played defense by AIC.
In the second half, junior Coco Ebersole (Fort Collins, Colo.) extended the Saint Rose lead to 2-0 when she found the back of the net at 62:50 with an assist from sophomore Gianna D’Errico (Shrewsbury, Mass.).
Senior netminder
Kara Potts (Westfield, Mass.) played well, making eight saves on the night for the Yellow Jackets. Sophomore Susan Cowan (West Boylston, Mass.) and senior Shannon Murphy (Charlton, Mass.) combined for the shutout for the Golden Knights. Cowan made three stops in 75-minutes played.
Next up, AIC hosts St. Michael’s on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they honor their seniors in their final regular season home contest.
