Brewster, Mass. – The American International College men’s golf team sits in seventh place after the first day of competition at the 2009 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at the par-782 Captains Golf Club, which is contested by each of the NCAA Division I, II and III institutions in New England. The Yellow Jackets are the top NCAA Division II team.
AIC shot a 305 in round one, trailing only Dartmouth (291), Central Connecticut State (293), Connecticut (228) and Rhode Island (299), Sacred Heart (3-4) and Salem State (304) in the 41-team field.

Garrett Beyor (Monson, Mass.) is third overall with an even-par 72 and classmate
Kent Graham (Kamuela, Hawaii) shot a five-over par 77. Junior
Greg Strattner (Westfield, Mass.) and sophomore
Kevin Daniels (Anchorage, Alaska) each shot a six-over par 78 and freshman
Nate Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.) shot a 10-over par 82).
The NEIGA Championship will resume Tuesday morning at Captains Golf Club.
