Brewster, Mass. – The American International College men’s golf team placed sixth overall and first among NCAA Division II teams at the 2009 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at the par-72 Captains Golf Club with a team score of 606 (305-301). Junior
Garrett Beyor (Monson, Mass.) tied for third overall with a one-under par 143 (72-71).
The University of Connecticut took the team title with a 582 (298-284) and Central Connecticut State University placed second with a 588 (293-295). Bryant University’s Jason Thresher took the individual title with a three-under par 141 (73-68). In all, 41 teams from NCAA Divisions I, II and III competed the 2009 NEIGA Championship.
Sophomore
Kevin Daniels (Anchorage, Alaska) tied for 26th with a 10-over par 152 (78-74) and junior
Kent Graham (Kamuela, Hawaii) tied for 45th with a 14-over par 156 (77-79). Freshman
Nate Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.) tied for 73rd with a 159 (82-77) and junior
Greg Strattner (Westfield, Mass.) tied for 79th with a 160 (78-82).
The men’s golf team is now finished with the fall portion its 2009-10 schedule and will get back on the course at the Barton Invitational March 7-8, 2010.
