Lisa Duckles (Netcong, N.J.) scored off of a penalty shot in the second overtime period to propel the American International College field hockey team over Saint Michael’s 2-1. With the win the Yellow Jacket improve to 6-11 overall this season and to 4-5 in the Northeast-10, while the loss drops the Purple Knights to 4-13 on the year and to 2-7 in the conference. Jacki Lapointe (Danvers, Mass.) for her four years with the team, as it was the team’s final home game of the regular season.
Duckles put the Yellow Jackets out to an early 1-0 lead finding the back of the net in the first five-minutes of the game with an assist from sophomore

AIC held on to the 1-0 lead until the 58th-minute when senior Kemi Brewster (St. Michael, Barbados) for Saint Michael’s buried a shot to send the game into overtime.
In the 98th-minute of the game, Duckles netted a penalty shot to win the game, after sophomore
Amanda Mclean (Branford, Conn.) was taken out by Purple Knight goalie Meghan McLaughlin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine).
Sophomore
Kim Steiner (Little Falls, N.Y.) made seven saves to earn the victory, while McLaughlin stopped eight shots.
The Yellow Jackets outshot Saint Michael’s 20-17 and 4-0 in the second overtime.
Next up, AIC heads to No. 6 Bentley on Saturday for their final regular season game.
