SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men’s soccer team lost Friday night 2-1 against Saint Anselm in their final regular season home game. With the loss the Yellow Jackets fall to 7-11-0 this season and to 4-8-0 in the Northeast-10, while the win improves the Hawks to 6-7-3 overall and to 6-5-2 in the conference. AIC paid tribute to four seniors playing in their final game at Ronald J. Abdow field, defenseman Kenner Almeida (Vinhedo, Brazil), midfielder Leo Santos (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), forward Ohionameh Aregbeyen (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and goalkeeper Ryan Brooks-Newton (Selkirk, N.Y.).

The Yellow Jackets were first to strike when Aregbeyen found the back of the net in the 25th- minute from 25-yards out. Saint Anselm tied the score at 1-1 just over 12-minutes later when senior Paul Kilday (Marshfield, Mass.) volleyed home a bouncing ball.

The two teams remained knotted at 1-1 until the 88th-minute when sophomore Keesen Howe (Norwich, Conn.) tallied what would prove to be the game-winning goal.

Brooks-Newton made three saves for AIC, while counterpart, freshman Eric Moriarty (Center Harbor, N.H.) stopped five shots to earn with win.

The Yellow Jackets outshot the Hawks 15-12 and held a 7-1 advantage in corners.

Next up, AIC heads to New Haven for the final game of the regular season.
