SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men’s soccer team lost Friday night 2-1 against Saint Anselm in their final regular season home game. With the loss the Yellow Jackets fall to 7-11-0 this season and to 4-8-0 in the Northeast-10, while the win improves the Hawks to 6-7-3 overall and to 6-5-2 in the conference. The Yellow Jackets were first to strike when Aregbeyen found the back of the net in the 25th- minute from 25-yards out. Saint Anselm tied the score at 1-1 just over 12-minutes later when senior Paul Kilday (Marshfield, Mass.) volleyed home a bouncing ball.
The two teams remained knotted at 1-1 until the 88th-minute when sophomore Keesen Howe (Norwich, Conn.) tallied what would prove to be the game-winning goal.
Brooks-Newton made three saves for AIC, while counterpart, freshman Eric Moriarty (Center Harbor, N.H.) stopped five shots to earn with win.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Hawks 15-12 and held a 7-1 advantage in corners.
Next up, AIC heads to New Haven for the final game of the regular season.
