Lisa Duckles (Netcong, N.J.) of the American International College field hockey team was named the Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week after leading the Yellow Jackets to a 2-1 double-overtime win over Saint Michael’s last week.
Duckles gave AIC a 1-0 lead just 2:59 into the game and later scored the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke with just 1:21 left in the second overtime period. She started all 18 games in her first year at AIC and tied for second on the team in scoring with five goals and three assists for 13 points
The Yellow Jackets finished the season with an overall record of 6-12, including a 4-6 mark in the Northeast-10. The Yellow Jackets’ six wins established a new school-record for wins in a season.
