SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After a 1:15 delay due to lightening, the American International College field hockey team lost Saturday night in a non-conference contest with Franklin Pierce, 2-1. With the loss the Yellow Jackets fall to 3-9 for the season, while the win improves the Ravens to 6-6. Sophomore Kim Steiner (Little Falls, N.Y.) stopped 13 shots in a strong effort for AIC.

Graduate student Jacki Lapointe (Danvers, Mass.) put the Yellow Jackets out to an early 1-0 lead when she tallied an unassisted goal just 3:50 into the game.

AIC held the 1-0 lead until the 48th-minute when senior Katie Debler (Walpole, Mass.) found the back of the net for Franklin Pierce with an assist from sophomore Lauren L’Heureux (Sanford, Maine). The 1-1 tie only lasted 2:55 as junior Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass.) netted what would prove to be the game winning goal for the Ravens, unassisted off of a rebound out in front of the goal.

Sophomore netminder Brittany Nyzio (Attleboro, Mass.) made three saves in earning the victory for Franklin Pierce.

Next up, the Yellow Jackets host No. 4 UMass Lowell on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
