SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College dropped a 2-0 Northeast-10 contest at Merrimack College Saturday night. The Warriors improved to 5-4-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 5-7-0 overall and 2-4-0 in conference play.
Sophomore forward/midfielder Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, Ont.) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal 18:09 into the game and added an insurance marker 3:20 into the second half with an assist from sophomore midfielder Evan Burokas (Auburn, Mass.)
Junior keeper Kevin Joyce (Mansfield, Mass.) made those two goals stand up as he made six saves to record the shutout in goal, while senior keeper
Ryan Brooks-Newton (Selkirk, N.Y.) had four stops in taking the loss for AIC.
Merrimack held a 12-7 advantage in shots, while the Yellow Jackets had a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.
AIC will look to bounce back Tuesday when it travels to Franklin Pierce for a 7 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
