Brookville, N.Y. - The American International College women's volleyball team earned a pair of 3-0 wins over host C.W. Post (25-20, 25-21, 25-18) and New York Institute of Technology (25-12, 25-17, 25-20) Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets improved their overall record to 20-9 with the two wins, marking the program's first 20-win season since 2003 when AIC went 22-9.
Redshirt freshman
Taila de Souza (Cunipia, Trinidad & Tobago) led AIC with 17 kills and just four errors in 31 attempts for a .419 attack percentage in the win over the Pioneers (12-13). Sophomore
Ellisha Terry (Fort Worth, Texas) fell just short of a double-double with nine kills and eight digs, while junior
Alicia Smith (Bridgetown, Barbados) hit an incredible .571, recording eight kills with no errors in 14 attempts.
De Souza hit .571 in the win over the Bears (11-18), posting 14 kills with two errors in 21 attempts and Smith hit .500 with seven kills and one error in 12 attempts. Terry hit .462 with seven kills and one error in 13 attempts and tallied a match-high 12 digs.
Sophomore
Kervelle Redhead (St. James, Trinidad & Tobago) handed out 35 assists with nine digs against C.W. Post and had 33 assists with four digs against NYIT. Junior
Kambryn Williams (Pomona, Calif.) had 16 digs against the Pioneers and notched nine digs against the Bears.
AIC will next travel to Merrimack Tuesday for a 7 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
