Worcester, Mass. – The American International College women’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Assumption College Friday night in a Northeast-10 contest. The Greyhounds improved to 6-5-0 overall and 6-4-0 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 6-7-1 overall and 3-7-1 in conference play.
Senior midfielder Kelly DeWalt (Londonderry, N.H.) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on a penalty kick 16:05 into the game and senior forward Katie DiCioccio (Wappingers, Falls, N.H.) added an insurance marker in the 69th-minute for the 2-0 final.
Junior keeper Lauren Keating (Nashua, N.H.) made six saves to record the shutout in goal, while senior keeper
Kara Potts (Westfield, Mass.) had five stops in taking the loss.
Shots in the game were even and 13 apiece. Assumption had a slim 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
AIC will next host Saint Rose Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a Northeast-10 contest.
