2009 NFHCA All-America Teams
Chandler, Ariz. – Sophomore midfielder
Linsey Fernandes (Ajax, Ont.) of the American International College field hockey team has been named a second-team all-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). She is just the second player in the program history to earn NFCHA all-America honors.
Fernandes, who was named a first-team Northeast-10 all-star this season after earning all-rookie honors last year, started all 18 games for the Yellow Jackets and ranked fourth on the team in scoring with three goals and two assists for eight points.
Midfielder Stephanie Laskey (Greenfield, Mass.) was named the program’s first all-American in 2008 when she earned second-team NFHCA honors. The field hockey program at AIC was established in 1996.
The Yellow Jackets finished the season with an overall record of 6-12 and finished eighth in the Northeast-10 with a 4-6 mark in conference play. The Yellow Jackets’ six victories established a new school-record for wins in a season.
