The win was AIC’s eighth straight and its seventh consecutive sweep. The Yellow Jackets have won 12 of their last 14 matches since a 10-7 start to the season.
Redshirt freshman
Taila de Souza (Cunupia, Trinidad & Tobago) put down a match-high 13 kills with two errors in 21 attempts for a .524 attack percentage, while junior middle blocker
Alicia Smith (Bridgetown, Barbados) scored seven kills with one error in 12 attempts for a .500 attack percentage. She also registered a match-high seven blocks (four solo).
Sophomore outside hitter
Ellisha Terry (Fort Worth, Texas) fell just short of a double-double with 10 kills and eight digs. Sophomore setter
Kervelle Redhead (St. James, Trinidad & Tobago) dished out 31 assists with four digs.
Sophomore middle hitter Elizabeth Knight (Queens Village, N.Y.) had a team-best eight kills with three blocks and two aces for the Eagles (9-24). Sophomore setter Taylor Doyle (Mystic, Conn.) had 15 assists and sophomore libero Courtney Braun (Groton, Conn.) had a team-leading nine digs.
AIC honored senior defensive specialist Christy Castillo (Lawrence, Mass.) and Hormann in a Senior Day ceremony during the match.
The Yellow Jackets will close out the 2009 regular season Saturday when they travels to Saint Anselm for a 1 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
