Manchester, N.H. – The American International College women’s volleyball team improved to 23-9 overall and 9-6 in the Northeast-10 after sweeping its final match of the regular season at Saint Anselm by scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-22. Junior middle blocker Alicia Smith (Bridgetown, Barbados) hit an incredible .733, putting down 11 kills with no errors in 17 swings.

AIC has now won nine straight matches, recorded eight consecutive sweeps and won 25 consecutive sets. The Yellow Jackets’ 23 victories are the most since the Yellow Jackets went 23-10 in 1997.

Sophomore outside hitter Ellisha Terry (Fort Worth, Texas) hammered down 14 kills with two errors in 28 attempts for a .429 attack percentage and tallied nine digs, while redshirt freshman outside hitter Taila de Souza (Cunupia, Trinidad & Tobago) hit .440 with 15 kills and four errors in 25 attempts.

Sophomore setter Kervelle Redhead (St. James, Trinidad & Tobago) handed out 33 assists with four digs and two service aces. Junior libero Kambryn Williams (Pomona, Calif.) registered a match-high 15 digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Charlotte Tencza (Greenfield, Mass.) had seven kills and nine digs to lead the Hawks (5-19, 1-14 NE-10). Freshman opposite side hitter Casey Walker (Bridgewater, N.J.) and junior middle blocker Stephanie Devlin (Beverly, Mass.) also tallied seven kills each, while sophomore setter Rachel Flaherty (Cold Spring, N.Y.) notched 24 assists with five kills and three digs.

AIC hit .422 as a team, recording 47 kills with nine digs in 90 total attempts, while Saint Anselm had 35 kills with 16 errors in 94 attempts for a .202 hitting percentage.

The Yellow Jackets playoff fate will be decided after Le Moyne plays Stonehill Sunday. A Le Moyne win would result in a five-way tie for fifth with AIC, Pace and Southern Connecticut with one team missing the NE-10 tournament. A Stonehill would place AIC seventh and pit it against second-place Adelphi in the first round of the conference championship tournament.
