CLARION, Pa. – The American International College wrestling team competed this weekend in Clarion, Pa. at the Knight Point Clarion Open. The open was hosted by Clarion University. Freshman
West Johnson (Meriden, Conn.) went 3-2 at the 141 lbs. class, while senior
Martin Thompson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) went 2-2 at the 165 lbs. division.
Johnson recorded wins of 13-10 over Nick Pitas (Falls Church, Va.) of American University and 7-2 over Mike Switzer (Knox, Pa.) of Clarion University. He also won when an opponent was disqualified. Thompson tallied wins of 7-3 over redshirt freshman Charles Aungst (Pine Grove, Pa.) from Drexel University and 5-4 freshman Josh Marquard (Aston, Pa.) of Millersville University.
Sophomore
Isaac Fagbuyi (Greenbelt, Md.) also recorded a win for AIC with a pin at 2:29 against Greg Carpenter at 157 lbs.
Next up, the Yellow Jackets host Plymouth State and Seton Hill on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
