Springfield, Mass. – The American International College women’s lacrosse team registered a 20-10 Northeast-10 win over Southern Connecticut Wednesday afternoon. Senior midfielder
Katie Warner (Westfield, Mass.) scored a school record nine goals in the win. The win improved the Yellow Jackets’ record to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the NE-10, while the Owls fell to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Warner also tallied two assists to total 11 points for the game. The previous record for goals in a game was set by Judith Swift with eight goals against Franklin Pierce on April 30, 1998 and again by Shannon Burke on April 5, 2005.
Junior
Morgan Mastronardi (Corunna, Ont.) added seven goals and an assist for AIC. Sophomore
Alex Hudyka (East Longmeadow, Mass.) tallied a pair of goals and assists for four points in the win. Sophomore
Colleen Dorsey (Wilbraham, Mass.) and freshman
Amanda McLean (Branford, Conn.) each scored once and had an assist for the Yellow Jackets.
Junior Marissa Ryan (Waterbury, Conn.) led the attack for Southern with three goals and an assist. Freshman Elizabeth Dishian (Shelton, Conn.) added two goals and an assist for the Owls.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Gina Gallo (Westfield, Mass.) stopped 18 shots for AIC. Junior goalkeeper Lisa Corso (N.. Bellmore, N.Y.) started and made six saves, while sophomore Diana DiGangi (Cheshire, Conn.) came off the bench to make five stops for Southern.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday at Saint Anselm at 1 p.m.
