Colchester, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College held a 10-2 halftime lead and never looked back as it recorded a 19-7 win over the American International College men’s lacrosse team Friday afternoon in a Northeast-10 contest. The Purple Knights improved 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Freshman Peter Hanson (Andover, Mass.) netted three goals and two assists for five points to lead Saint Michael’s. Junior Charlie Niznansky (Fairfield, Conn.) added three goals with one assist for four points, while senior Jake Previte (Cohasset, Mass.) and freshmen Andrew Buccellato (Glen Rock, N.J.) and Paul Tortora Jr. (Fairfield, Conn.) tallied two goals and one assist for three points each.
Junior Zach Jandl (Brookline, N.H.) made four first half saves to record the win in goal for the Purple Knights. Freshmen Ian O’Brien (Gansevoort, N.Y.) and Nate Robeson (Norfolk, Mass.) combined for seven saves in the second half.
Sophomore
Aaron McNab (West Springfield, Mass.) scored two goals with one assists for three points and sophomore
Travis Ortensi (South Hadley, Mass.) netted one goal with two assists for three points to lead AIC. Sophomore
Mark Taylor (North Andover, Mass.) made five saves in the first half in taking the loss in goal, while fellow sophomore Max Caslteman (Wilbraham, Mass.) made four saves in the second half.
The Yellow Jackets will next travel to Le Moyne College Tuesday for a 4 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
