Yellow Jackets Swept at Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. – The American International College softball team lost both ends of their doubleheader at Stonehill Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets lost the first game 5-3, and then lost the back end 3-0. With the losses AIC falls to 21-21 this season and to 13-13 in the Northeast-10, while the sweep the Skyhawks improve to 13-25 this year and to 13-13 in the conference.

Senior Kellie Brown (Gill, Mass.) went 3-4 with one run scored in the first game, while freshman Sarah Calgreen (Stratford, Conn.) went 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Senior Ashley Deegan (Durham, Conn.) went 1-3 at the plate with one RBI, while also pitching seven innings with five strikeouts.

Senior Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) went 1-4 for Stonehill, including the game-winning two-run homerun in the eighth inning.

In the second game, freshman Kristen Dolan (Norwood, Mass.) recorded 11 strikeouts in six innings pitched for AIC, while classmate Kaitlin Andrews (Hudson, Mass.) went all seven innings with three strikeouts to record the win for the Skyhawks.

Next up, the Yellow Jackets head to UMass-Lowell for their final series of the regular season tomorrow at 12 p.m.
