Lowell, Mass. - The American International College softball team swept a Northeast-10 doubleheader at UMass Lowell Sunday afternoon, winning game-one 2-0 and game-two 10-8 in 10 innings. The Yellow Jackets closed the regular season with an overall record of 23-21 and 15-13 in the NE-10 and locked-up at least the seventh-seed in the upcoming conference championship tournament.
After six scoreless innings in game one, the Yellow Jackets pushed two across the plate in the seventh inning when freshman
Ashleigh St. Peter (Gill, Mass.) doubled left scoring senior

Kristen Dolan (Norwood, Mass.) went all seven innings for AIC with five strikeouts, while her counterpart, classmate Elissa Boris (Gardner, Mass.) pitched seven innings allowing two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts.
In game two, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to a commanding 8-0 lead after the first inning. Junior
Katie Elie (Worcester, Mass.) and senior
Deanna Zanetti (Hampden, Mass.) each registered two RBI’s in the inning, while St. Peter and sophomore
Nicole Benoit (Walpole, Mass.) each tallied an RBI. UMass – Lowell stormed back scoring one run in the second inning, three in the third inning, and four more runs in the seventh to tie the score at 8-8.
In the 10th inning, St. Peter and junior
Michelle Franey (Abington, Mass.) scored on a wild pitch and an error by the pitcher to secure the victory for AIC.
Deegan went seven and two thirds innings with three strikeouts in recording the win. Senior pitcher
Sara Puglisi (Amsterdam, N.Y.) got the start and struck-out three in 2.1 innings.
Next up, the Yellow Jackets head to the Northeast-10 playoffs were their opponent and date are still to be decided.
