SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's lacrosse team lost to No. 4 Merrimack in a muddy Northeast-10 battle at John Homer Miller Field Monday afternoon. Senior Greg Rogowski (Cohoes, N.Y.) led the Warrior attack with seven goals and two assists. The loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the NE-10, while Merrimack improved to 9-0 and 5-0.
AIC got on the board with the first with goals by freshman
Nicholas Brett (London, N.H.) and sophomore
Aaron McNab (West Springfield, Mass.). Trailing 3-1 Merrimack responded by scoring four straight to close out the first period.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 9-5 at the end of the third, but cut the lead in half just one minute into the fourth with goals from McNab and sophomore
Travis Ortensi (South Hadley, Mass.). The Warriors soon began to pull away for good with four straight goals, including three from Rogowski.
Junior Cory Spinale (Wakefield, Mass.) stopped eight shots in the win for Merrimack. In between the pipes for AIC, sophomore
Mark Taylor (North Andover, Mass.) made 19 saves.
The Warriors outshot the Yellow Jackets 49-24.
AIC will next play Friday at Saint Michael’s for a 4 p.m. start.
