SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - No. 17 Bentley University opened the game with a 14-4 run and never looked back on its way to an 81-64 Northeast-10 victory over the American International College men's basketball team Wednesday afternoon at Butova Gymnasium. Senior forward Aikeem Vanderhorst (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Yellow Jackets.

Vanderhorst now ranks 19th on the all-time scoring list at AIC with 1,165 career points. He is 18 points away from tying Erroll Jones (1991-95) for 18th on the career scoring list.

Senior guard Mike Westrol (Brielle, N.J.) scored 22 points, going 9-for14 from the field, with seven assists, seven steals and three boards to lead the Falcons, who improved to 13-2 for the season and 8-2 in conference play. Senior guard John Brandt (Pawtucket, R.I.) added 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field.

Junior guard Tom Dowling (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Kevin Kettl (Hershey, Pa.) added 12 and 11 points off the bench, respectively.

Senior guard Mike Troll (New York, N.Y.) scored 13 points with five rebounds and four assists for the Yellow Jackets, who fell to 6-9 overall and 4-6 in the NE-10 with their fifth straight loss. Freshman guard Ricky Hudson (Sewell, N.J.) added 12 points, while junior forward Anthony Thomas (Baltimore, Md.) posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards.

Bentley shot 50.7 percent (34-67) from the field and were 8-of-10 at the free throw line, while AIC shot 49 percent (24-49) from the floor and were 10-for-15 at the charity stripe. The Yellow Jackets also shot 42.9 percent (6-14) from three.

Turnovers played a huge role in the game. AIC turned the ball over 20 times, which led to 26 Bentley points. The Falcons committed just eight turnovers that led to eight points for the Yellow Jackets.
