SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Bentley University outscored the American International College women’s basketball team 48-26 in the second half to record a 73-55 Northeast-10 win at Butova Gymnasium Wednesday evening. The Falcons improved to 10-5 overall and 8-2 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 6-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
AIC held a 29-25 lead at the break, but Bentley shot an impressive 57.7 percent (15-26) from the field, 62.5 percent (5-8) from three and 81.3 percent (13-16) from the free throw line in the second half. The Yellow Jackets were held to 31.8 percent (7-22) shooting from the floor and were just 1-for-4 from beyond the arc in the second period.
The Falcons took the lead for good on a three from junior guard Kim Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y.) that was part of a 7-2 Bentley run to open the frame. The Falcons used a 6-0 run to open a 44-36 lead midway through the second half and closed the game with an 11-2 run over the final 2:24.
Brennan finished with a game-high 21 points to go with five assists, three rebounds and two steals to lead Bentley, which is receiving votes in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll. Sophomore guard Katherine Goodwin (Goffstown, N.H.) added 17 points, going 8-for-11 from the field, and also dished out five assists.

Rhea Pascal (Pickering, Ont.) posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards to lead the AIC, which saw its four-game winning streak come to an end. Junior guard
Adriana Johnson (Tobyhanna, Pa.) scored 15 points to go with seven assists, six boards and three steals, while senior guard
Kristin Boesenberg (Pocono Pines, Pa.) chipped in with 10 points, three boards and two assists.
The Yellow Jackets will next travel to UMass Lowell Saturday for a 1:30 Northeast-10 contest.
