Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) of the American International College men’s ice hockey team was named the Atlantic Hockey Association Rookie of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s 1-0 shutout over Holy Cross. Joining Meisner with AHA honors is junior netminder
Dan Ramirez (Rochester, N.Y.) who was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
The Yellow Jackets went 1-0-1 in their home-and-home with the Crusaders over the weekend. AIC skated to a 1-1 tie in the opener and then tallied a 1-0 shutout on Saturday night, improving their record to 3-16-2 overall and to 3-12-2 in the conference. The Yellow Jacket’s also set a school record for shutouts in a season with three.
Meisner recorded 39 saves to record his third shutout of the season on Saturday. He made 34 of his 39 saves in the second and third periods, to preserve his third win of the season. Meisner now holds the school’s all-time record for shutouts in a season with three.
Ramirez stopped 38 shots for his second tie of the season. Over the final two periods of regulation and overtime he stopped 31 shots, including eight in the overtime frame to preserve the tie for the Yellow Jackets on Friday.
