Yellow Jackets Shutout by RIT, 4-0

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men’s ice hockey team was shutout Saturday night by RIT, 4-0. With the loss the Yellow Jackets record falls to 3-18-2 for the season and to 3-14-2 in Atlantic Hockey play, while the win improves the Tigers to 14-9-1 overall and to 14-3-1 in the conference. Freshman Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) played well stopping 40 shots on the night for AIC.

RIT got out to a 1-0 lead when senior defenseman Dan Ringwald (Oakville, Ont.) found the back of the net at 14:59 of the first period.

The Tigers netted two goals in the second period to extend their lead to 3-0. Junior Sean Murphy (Owatonna, Man.) and sophomore Tyler Brenner (Linwood, Ont.) both tallied a goal in the period.

Freshman Adam Hartley (Vancouver, B.C.) capped of the RIT shutout as he buried a goal early in the third period.

Senior Jared DeMicheil (Avon, Conn.) made 18 saves to claim the shutout for the Tigers.

The Yellow Jackets held RIT scoreless on the power-play, as the Tigers went 0-3.
