SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The College of Saint Rose opened the game with a 16-2 run and went on an 8-3 burst in the closing minutes of a 79-63 Northeast-10 victory over the American International College men's basketball team Saturday afternoon at Butova Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 12-10 overall and 9-8 in the Northeast-10 with the win, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 10-12 overall and 8-9 in conference play.

AIC was led by sophomore forward Isiah Wallace (Springfield, Mass.), who scored 17 points with four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Freshman guard Ricky Hudson (Sewell, N.J.) poured in 16 points, going 7-for-11 from the field with two threes, with four boards and three steals, while sophomore guard Adrian Hynes-Guery (Montreal, Que.) netted 14 points with four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Sophomore guard Shea Bromirski (Cambridge, N.Y.) scored a game-high 24 points, going 7-of-11 from the field, 5-of-8 from three and 5-of-7 at the line to lead Saint Rose. He also had four boards and three assists. Senior guard Jermaine Clark (Perth Amboy, N.J.) scored 15 points with seven boards and four assists.

After falling behind by 14 in the early going, the Yellow Jackets managed to chip away at the Golden Knights’ lead and closed the first half with a 10-3 run to pull within four at the break, 37-33.

It was still a four-point game after a Wallace layup made it 51-47 nine minutes into the second half before Saint Rose went on a 13-2 run to open a 64-40 lead with 6:55 to go in the contest. That lead eventually grew to 21 after sophomore guard Rob Gutierrez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) sank a pair of free throws with 55 seconds to go.

The Golden Knights shot 51 percent from the field (26-51) and 55.6 percent (10-18) from three while going 17-for-23 at the line. The Yellow Jackets shot just 38.3 percent (23-60) from the field and 20-7 percent (6-29) from three while going 11-for-20 at the stripe.

AIC will next host Le Moyne College Tuesday night in a 7:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
