FOUR-RUN SEVENTH PUSHES SAINT ROSE PAST AIC

BOX SCORE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 17, 2006) - Bill Behrle (Albany, N.Y.) went 3-3 and hit a two-run single as The College of Saint Rose used a four-run seventh inning to post a 5-1 win over American International College in Northeast-10 baseball Monday afternoon at AIC Park.  The Golden Knights, who have now won four straight, are 8-27 and 4-14 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets are 9-17 and 5-13 in the league.

Besides Behrle, Saint Rose also got two hits apiece from Nick Panza (Albany, N.Y.) and Gary Miller (Prospect, Conn.).  Brian Poland (Latham, N.Y.) went the distance on the hill for the Golden Knights and allowed just four hits and one run (one earned) while striking out eight.

Dominic Meattey (Fitzwilliam, N.H) extended his hitting streak to seven games for American International with a double to left-center in the fourth inning.  Tyler Cooke (Brattleboro, Vt.) had AIC's lone RBI as his sac fly in the third scored David Dest (Orange, Conn.) from third to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead.  Uchon Yi (Windsor Locks, Conn.) took the loss for AIC, allowing 10 hits in seven innings of work.

Saint Rose would tie the game in the fourth inning when John Marcella (Schenectady, N.Y.) hit a two-out triple then scored on an error.  The Golden Knights would score all four of their runs in the seventh with two outs, using four hits and taking advantage of an AIC error, one of four committed in the game by the Yellow Jackets.

AIC travels to Franklin Pierce Tuesday afternoon to face the Ravens, who are ranked as high as No. 18 nationally in Division II.
