BASEBALL STYMIES SAINT ROSE 6-2

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (April 10, 2007) - Kyle Paton (Westfield, Mass.) drove in a pair of runs as American International College banged out 11 hits en route to a 6-2 Northeast-10 baseball victory over The College of Saint Rose Tuesday afternoon.  The Yellow Jackets improve to 6-12 overall and 2-7 in league play, while the Golden Knights fall to 5-17 and 3-7 in the NE-10.

Paton drove in a pair of runs and finished with a pair of hits.  Jeff Rustico (Plantsville, Conn.) was 2-5 with an RBI for AIC, while Chuck March (Southington, Conn.) was 2-3 with two runs scored.  Senior righty Bryan Soltis (Plantsville, Conn.) registered the win for the Yellow Jackets, going seven innings and scattering eight hits while fanning two.

Jason Rustico (Plantsville, Conn.) scored AIC's first run to give the Jackets a 1-0 lead in the third when he led off the frame with a single and scored on an error.  After the hosts tied the game in the bottom of the inning, American International scored three times in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.  Paton delivered a two-run double that scored Dominic Meattey (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) and March.  Paton would score on a single by Tyler Cooke (Brattleboro, Vt.).

Jeff Rustico made it 5-1 in the seventh when he reached on a double and later scored on a wild pitch.  March would score AIC's final run in the ninth when he led off the inning with a double and came in off a Jeff Rustico single.

AIC returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Post in a 3:30 non-league game.
