BRYAN SOLTIS NAMED TO NORTHEAST-10 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. (April 24, 2007) -
Senior pitcher Bryan Soltis (Plantsville, Conn.)
of the American International College baseball team was named to
the Northeast-10 Conference baseball All-Academic Team, it was
announced on Tuesday. It marks the second straight year
Soltis has been selected as a member of the team.
Soltis, an Accounting major with a 3.95 GPA, currently leads the Yellow Jackets pitching staff with a 2.84 earned run average and a 2-3 record. Over 38 innings of work, Soltis has walked just seven batters while fanning 10. Over his four year career, Soltis has registered a 3.85 ERA, compiled a 9-15 record, and walked an miniscule 27 batters in 208 innings of work. As a junior in 2006, Soltis issued just five walks in 61 innings.
To be eligible for selection to the academic
teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the
following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of
the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant
contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a
4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her
current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen
by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
