Baseball Shutout by No. 18 Florida Tech 7-0

Box Score

Melbourne, Fla. - The 18th-ranked Florida Tech baseball team took advantage of five American International College errors in shutting out the Yellow Jackets, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon at Seminick-Hall Field. The Panthers improved to 18-6-1, while AIC dropped to 1-4.

Florida Tech jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when senior Nick Brennan (Detroit, Mich.) reached on a catchers interference call and later scored from third when classmate Brendan Twomey (Boca Raton, Fla.) grounded into a double play with the only run the Panthers needed. They tacked on four more runs in the fifth on two hits and three Yellow Jacket errors and added a pairs of runs in the seventh.

AIC had a two-out threat going in the third inning and loaded the bases in the fourth, but junior Jake Koch (Orlando, Fla.) got the strikeout he needed in both instances to keep the Yellow Jackets off the board. He allowed just three hits and struck out eight in six innings to pick up the win.

Senior Uchon Yi (Windsor Locks, Conn.) allowed five runs, all unearned, on just three hits over 5.1 innings in taking the loss for AIC.

The Yellow Jackets will face next Bentley Thursday at 3 p.m. at Rollins College.
