Bentley Posts 4-1 Victory Over AIC

Box Score

Winter Park, Fla. - The American International College baseball team lost a 4-1 decision to Bentley Sunday at Alfond Stadium at Rollins College. Senior David Dest (Orange, Conn.) went 1 for 4 at the plate and scored the lone run for the Yellow Jackets (0-2).

The Falcons scored one run in each of the first two innings on RBI singles from Deconsta and freshman Ross Curley (Lexington, Mass.). Curley's single through the left side plated classmate Chris Hardy (Warwick, R.I.) from third with what proved to be the game-winning run.

AIC got one of those runs back in the bottom of the second when Dest doubled down the left field line and later scored on freshman Dan Mooney's (Bennington, Vt.) single to center field before Bentley got back on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth off two hits and three Yellow Jacket errors. Sophomore Brett Damato (Commack, N.Y.) singled and later scored on a Sullivan line out and Hardy scored his second run of the afternoon on sac fly from junior Kevin Vona (Belmont, N.Y.).

Junior Jarrod Marchesi (Peabody, Mass.) went the distance on the hill for the Falcons, scattering six hits with seven strikeouts to record the win. Freshman Zach Bunszell (Medford, Mass.) allowed two runs on 10 hits over six innings in taking the loss for AIC.

The two teams will meet again Monday at 3 p.m. at Rollins College.
