AIC Wins Third Consecutive Game; Blanks Pace 7-0

Box Score

Pleasantville, N.Y. - Senior full back Marcus Cameron (Hempstead, N.Y.) was on the receiving end of a 57-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Rob Parent (West Warwick, R.I.) with 5:35 remaining in the first quarter as the American International College football team shut out Pace university 7-0 Saturday at Pace Field. The Yellow have won three consecutive games to improve to 4-3 on the season and 4-2 in the Northeast-10.

The score capped off a seven-play, 94 yard drive that began on the AIC six yard line. Senior running back Calvin Hall (Rochester, N.Y.) rushed three times for 12 yards on the drive to get the ball to the Yellow Jacket's 20-yard line before Parent found junior wide receiver Tyler Scaccia (Webster, N.Y.) for a 23-yard gain to the 43 yard line. Parent connected with Cameron on the next play for the only score of the contest.

The Yellow Jackets had a number of chances to increase their lead throughout the game, but the Setters' defense held AIC to just one score. The Yellow Jackets turned the ball over on downs early in the second quarter after having first and goal from the Pace six-yard line and Parent  was picked off by Greg Brain (Westtown, N.Y.) at the Setters' five-yard line with just under two minutes remaining in the first half.

Senior kicker Marek Prezbylek (Olsztyn, Poland) also missed a pair of field goals, one from 32 yards with 0:04 left in the third quarter and another from 38-yards with 8:23 remaining in the game.

The Yellow Jackets defense also turned in a stellar performance in pitching the shut out, allowing Pace (1-7, 1-6 NE-10) to cross midfield just five times and forcing the Setters to turn the ball over on downs on four of those occasions.

Pace had a golden opportunity late in the game as they forced AIC to punt from its own seven-yard line and returned the kick to the Yellow Jacket 41-yard marker. Adam Headley (Shelton, Conn.) then threw three incomplete passes and was sacked by sophomore linebacker Richard Reicher (Nesconset, N.Y.) on the second play of the drive. AIC then ran three running plays to run off the final 2:00 of the game.

Parent completed 13 passes for 178 yards and one score for the Yellow Jackets, while Hall ran 21 times for 74 yards. Cameron caught two passes and ran once for a total of 78 yards and Scaccia had four catches for 61 yards.

AIC's defense held Pace to just 98 yards gained while registering nice tackles for loss, six sacks and forcing five turnovers. Sophomore linebacker Terrence Holley (Bronx, N.Y.) led the AIC with 10 tackles (eight solo, two assisted), while senior linebacker Michael Daley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had seven solo tackles and two sacks.

The Setters held the Yellow Jackets to 272 yards of total offense while registering 10 tackles for loss, three sacks and three turnovers. Joe Streany (Croton, N.Y.) led Pace with 13 tackles (five solo, eight assisted) and recovered one AIC fumble, while Nick Liguori (Toms River, N.J.) had six tackles and two sacks.

The Yellow Jackets return to John Homer Miller Field Saturday, Oct. 27, to host C.W. Post at 1 p.m. in a Northeast-10 contest.
