MERRIMACK BLANKS AIC IN FIELD HOCKEY SATURDAY
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 10, 2005)
– Kristen Belair (Methuen, Mass.) notched a
goal and an assist to lead Merrimack College to a 3-0 Northeast-10
Conference field hockey victory over American International College
Saturday afternoon at Yellow Jackets Field. The Warriors
improve to 3-1 overall and in the league, while the Yellow Jackets
are now 0-2 overall and in NE-10 play.
Merrimack would get on the board 5:19 into the game when Julia Redman (North Haven, Conn.) scored on an assist from Belair. The Warriors made it 2-0 in the game’s 23rd minute when Belair converted a long pass from Meaghan Nugent (Charlton, Mass.) for her third goal of the season. MC led 2-0 at halftime and added its third goal with 5:42 to play when Anna Rounce (South Windsor, Conn.) added an unassisted tally.
Amy Larrabee (Stratham, N.H.) made a pair of saves en route to the shutout, while Cindy Armand (Danvers, Mass.) totaled eight saves in goal for AIC.
American International returns to action
Wednesday when it entertains Assumption in a 4:00 contest.
