GREYHOUNDS RACE PAST AIC FIELD HOCKEY 3-1
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 14, 2005) –
Sarah Roy (Fairhaven, Mass.) notched a goal and an
assist to lead Assumption College to a 3-1 victory over American
International College in a Northeast-10 field hockey match at
Yellow Jackets Field Wednesday afternoon. With the win the
Greyhounds are 3-2 overall and in league play, while the Yellow
Jackets are 0-3 overall and in the NE-10.
The Greyhounds got on the board just past the 18-minute mark of the first half when Roy slid a ball over to Jill Hughes (Brownsville, Vt.), who scored to put Assumption on top. Roy would notch the eventual game-winner 7:45 into the second half when she notched an unassisted tally. Kerry Kelly (Dedham, Mass.) closed out the scoring for the guests with just under 11 minutes to play when she converted a feed by Megan Atkins (Weybridge, Vt.)
American International notched its only goal with 3:28 remaining when Nicole Phelps (Nassau, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season. Amanda Demers (Danielson, Ct.) was credited with an assist on the play.
Kaitlin Burke (Falmouth, Mass.) totaled three saves en route to the victory, while Cindy Armand (Danvers, Mass.) accumulated eight stops for the Yellow Jackets.
AIC returns to action Friday when it hosts UMass
