Field Hockey Dominates But Falls to Assumption

Mass. (October 12, 2006) -
Sophomore Jill Hughes (Brownsville, VT) scored the
game's only goal, as Assumption College defeated American
International College 1-0 in Northeast-10 action Thursday afternoon
at AIC Park. The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 2-9 overall and
2-8 in the Northeast-10. The victory helps Assumption improve to
5-9 overall and 5-7 in the Northeast-10.
AIC dominated a majority of the game, out-shooting the Greyhounds 7-4 and leading them in penalty-corners 9-3. Although the Yellow Jackets played aggressive, and had several opportunities to score, Assumption senior goalie Kaitlin Burke (Falmouth, Mass.) was solid in the cage, earning the six-save shutout.
The game's only goal was scored 17:25 into the second-half when Hughes took a centering pass from freshman Michelle Pasquale (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and ripped it passed Yellow Jackets junior goaltender Cindy Armand (Danvers, Mass.)
AIC will next host Bentley College on October 14 at 12:00pm.
