Southern Connecticut Gives Field Hockey Second Straight Loss

BOXSCORE

October 4, 2006 - New Haven, Conn. - Rachel Ragusa (Bethel, Conn.) and Angela Cafarelli (Enfield, Conn.) both connected for hat tricks as the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team defeated American International College 8-1 in a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey game Wednesday night at Jess Dow Field.

Southern Connecticut controlled play for most of the game, out shooting the Yellow Jackets 22-5.  In the first half it was all Southern Connecticut, scoring three goals, two of which were by Ragusa.

Ragusa finished the game with three goals and one assist while captain Cafarelli added three goals for the Owls.  Sophomore Whitney Martin (Harwinton, Conn.) scored twice and added an assist.

In the second half, Yellow Jackets' junior Jamie Anderson (North Attleboro, Mass) broke the shutout with a tip-in goal off a pass from Toccara Nickerson.

Casey Sanford (North Haven, Conn.) led the Owls in goal with three saves while Cindy Armand collected seven saves for American International.

AIC will next host Merrimack on Saturday October, 7 at 12:00.
