Colchester, Vt. - The American International College field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime at St. Michael's College Monday afternoon. Senior forward Nichole Phelps (Nassau, N.Y.) scored the game-tying goal in the 68th minute to send the match into overtime. The Yellow Jackets are now 2-11 overall and 2-10 in the Northeast-10.

Senior forward Chelsea Kimball (North Berwick, Maine) netted the unassisted game-winner for the Purple Knights (4-10, 4-8 NE-10) 2:11 into overtime. Senior forward Brittany O'Brien (Stowe, Vt.) gave St. Michael's a 1-0 lead 2:39 into the second half with an assist from junior Tricia McCormick (East Walpole, Mass.) and AIC answered with 2:55 left in regulation as Phelps tallied her fifth goal of the season with an assist from senior forward Jamie Anderson (North Attleboro, Mass.).

Junior keeper Jordan Smalling (Essex Junction, Vt.) made two saves, both in the second half, to record the win, while freshman goalie Nichole Spence (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) made 10 saves in taking the loss.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Wednesday when they host UMassLowell at 7:15 p.m.
