Merrimack Edges Field Hockey 1-0

Box Score

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - Senior Keri Gerrish (Hanover, MA) scored her first goal of the season 90 seconds into the second half to lift Merrimack College to a 1-0 win over American International College in Northeast-10 field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Amy Larrabee (Stratham, NH) made eight saves for the Warriors, who snapped their two-game losing streak and improved to 2-5 (2-2 NE-10) on the season. The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 2-3 (2-3 NE-10).

The two teams played to a scoreless first half with AIC outshooting the Warriors 7-2. Fresh out of halftime, the Warriors swarmed the AIC cage and peppered goalie Cindy Armand with several shots before Gerrish found the back of the cage at 36:30. Senior Jenna Picco (Marshfield, MA) picked up the assist on the goal.

Merrimack held a 17-7 edge in shots in the second half to finish the game with a total of 19, compared to 14 for AIC.

The Jackets will return to action September 15th at 1:00 pm when they host St. Michael's.
