Yellow Jackets Fall to No.4 UMass-Lowell

LOWELL, MA (Sept. 18, 2007) - Despite a nine save effort from senior goalie Cindy Armand (Danvers, Mass.) the AIC Yellow Jackets dropped their fifth Northeast-10 contest of the season 2-0 Tuesday evening to No. 4 UMass-Lowell.

The River Hawks have won five straight and improve to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the NE-10 on the season. The Yellow Jackets are 2-5 overall and 2-5 in the NE-10 with the loss.

Jill Tierney figured into both UML goals, scoring the game's first tally and assisting on the River Hawks' second strike of the match.

Tierney's goal came in the 39th minute of play when she deflected a Missy Seeley into the cage for her second goal of the season.

Twelve minutes later, in the 47th minute, Tierney earned an assist when Sammy Macy beat Armand one-on-one. The goal was Macy's second of the season.

UML had 17 shots in the game, seven in the first half and 10 in the second. AIC was held without a shot in the match.

Danielle Dodier picked up her fifth win of the season for UML. Freshman Amy Carbon played the final 11 minutes in goal for the River Hawks.

The Yellow Jackets will host No. 5 Bryant Thursday evening at Benedum Field. Game time is scheduled for 7:15 pm.
