McMillan, Fenton Honored by Atlantic Hockey
HAVERHILL, Mass. (March 5, 2007) - Freshman forward
Mike McMillan (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) and
sophomore goalie Tom Fenton (Sarnia, ON) of the
American International College ice hockey team were honored by the
Atlantic Hockey Association for their efforts in a 2-1 victory over
Canisius College in the first-round of the conference tournament
this past weekend.
McMillan was named the league's Player of the Week after tallying the game winning goal with 7:35 remaining in the third-period of Saturday's contest to break a 1-1 tie. It marked the first career game-winning goal for McMillian in his collegiate career.
Fenton earned Goalie of the Week honors for the second time in his career after giving up a goal and stopping 28 shots in the win over the Golden Griffins. The victory was Fenton's first in an AHA playoff contest after the Yellow Jackets fell 3-1 last season in the quarterfinals against No. 1 Holy Cross.
AIC will travel to Sacred Heart to take on the
top-seeded Pioneers in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Hockey
Tournament Saturday, March 10 at 7:00 pm.
