Ramirez Earns Rookie of the Week Honors in the AHA; Second Major Award of ‘07

(Rochester,
NY) was named the Atlantic Hockey Association's
Rookie of the Week while senior Jereme Tendler (Viceroy,
SK) was listed on the conference's weekly honor roll. The
American International College ice hockey squad finished last
week's three games with a 2-1-0 record. AIC earned a 4-1 win over
UConn Tuesday evening, before splitting a pair of contests with the
defending Atlantic Hockey regular season champion Rochester
Institute of Technology Tigers.
Against the Huskies, Ramirez stopped 21 shots allowing only one goal before turning away 25 shots and again allowing only one goal in the Jacket's first of two match-ups with RIT. For the week he had a 2.33 goals-against-average and a .904 save percentage. On the season, Ramirez is 4-3-1 with a 2.27 GAA and a .915 save percentage.
This marks the second time Ramirez has earned one of Atlantic Hockey's major awards. On November 19th he was named the conference's Goalie of the Month.
Senior captain Jereme Tendler (Viceroy, SK) was also an award recipient. Tendler was listed on the weekly honor roll after notching a goal and three assists for the week. He is now tied with sophomore Mike McMillan (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) for the team lead with 15 points off of six goals and nine assists on the season.
AIC is 4-9-2 overall and 4-7-1 in the conference. This weekend
they will head on the road to square off against Mecyhurst.
