Mercyhurst College Downs Ice Hockey 2-

Lake Erie -  Despite a goal from sophomore Chris Campanale the American International College ice hockey squad dropped a 2-1 contest on the road to the Lakers of Mercyhurst College Saturday evening. The win propels Mercyhurst to 4-11-1 overall and 4-5-2 in the conference while the loss drops the Yellow Jackets 4-11-2 overall and 4-9-1 in the AHA.

Campanale notched the first score of the contest for the Yellow Jackets at the 7:52 marker in the first frame. It came after senior forward Greg Geneovese gave him a pass leading to his second goal of the season.

The Lakers tied the game up midway through the second period when Matt Pitt flunk a shot past AIC goalie Dan Ramirez who played well in net for the Yellow Jackets, stopping 33 shots in net. His counterpart Matt Lundin turned away 31 shots in net for the Lakers.

Mercyhurst eventually tallied the game winning goal in the third period when Brandon Coccimimilio earned his sixth goal of the year, scoring on an assist from Pitt and Jeff Terminesi.

AIC will take a short break before hosting Robert Morris January 4th and 5th.
