Men's Ice Hockey Earns Perfect Academic Progress Rate for 2006-07
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - In a time when some NCAA Division I programs are struggling to make the grade on their annual Academic Progress Rates (APR), the American International College men's ice hockey team has shined. The Yellow Jackets earned a perfect score of 1,000 for their 2006-07 APR and have a near perfect average of 995 over the past four years.
Sacred Heart led all Atlantic Hockey teams with a four-year APR of 1,000, followed by AIC, which had 21 of 25 players post a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the 2007 fall semester, and Holy Cross (992). Division I men's ice hockey, in general, had an average four-year score of 972.
Every Division I program calculates its APR each academic year,
based on the eligibility, retention and graduation of each
scholarship student-athlete. An APR of 925 projects to an NCAA
Graduation Success Rate of approximately 60 percent. The average
APR for all Division I student-athlete is 961, according to the
latest NCAA data. The average APR for male student-athletes is 951,
while the average for female student-athletes is 969.
