MEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS AT BENTLEY
WALTHAM, Mass.

Huggins (Philadelphia, Pa.) totaled 27 points for American
International College, but host Bentley College jumped out to a
51-31 halftime lead and never looked back in a 93-78 Northeast-10
men’s basketball victory Tuesday evening at the Dana
Center. The Falcons improved to 8-6 and 5-4 in the NE-10,
while the Yellow Jackets are now 8-6 and 4-5 in the league.
Huggins drained seven of his 11 three-point attempts and was 10-19 from the floor overall. Freshman Vernon Dupree (Wilmington, Del.) was the other Yellow Jacket in double figures as he totaled a season-high 13 points on 6-8 shooting. Tim Forbes led five Bentley players in double figures with 23 points.
Bentley shot a sizzling 58.8% from the floor and 57.1% (8-14) from three-point land in the opening 20 minutes to open up a 51-31 halftime lead. The Falcons scored the first nine points of the game and after allowing AIC to get within 11-8 at the 14:35 mark, went on an 8-0 run to make it 19-8 with just over 12 minutes left before halftime. AIC got no closer than nine points the rest of the half and trailed by as many as 26 before closing out the half on a 10-4 run.
The Falcons made 31 trips to the free throw line and hit 22, while AIC made just 10 free throw attempts, converting seven. Bentley outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 42-23, including a 20-7 advantage on the offensive glass, and the hosts shot 49.2% from the floor for the game.
